Why freehand, when we can have CGI?

At Sdesign Illustration we believe passionately in Freehand Illustration. We believe that the way forward for Architectural presentation is to re-capture some of the mystery that been lost with the rise of CGI. We want to bring back some of the joy and excitement that only Freehand Illustration can convey. We believe that Architecture should look Architectural, not just glossy. Freehand Illustrations convey the life and activity of a proposal in an immediate and powerful way. This is something people respond to instinctively. Freehand allows the viewer to make their own reading of a proposal. This makes them much less likely to fixate on specifics as a CGI would.

Under a tight deadline is when Sdesign Illustration really shines. We can rapidly bring a scheme to life, even with the most outline of proposals. We can show a range of subtle details that give a considered appearance to the architecture, while doing the same for the open spaces. Simultaneously, we compose our images carefully, so that we can begin telling stories with the people, their aspirations and their activities throughout the proposals.

Sdesign illustrations provide both excellent value for money and a rapid turnaround, next-day delivery is not uncommon. Sdesign Illustration requires neither extensive briefing, nor constant commenting and re-briefing the way CGI does.

Having spent many years at top Amsterdam and London firms, Sdesign Illustration brings both the design and the technical background to our work. This knowledge is infused into our illustrations; all the better to set your vision apart from the competition.
